Progressive Books for a Better World

Canut Intl. Press, established in 2003, is a distinguished independent and collective team work publishing house with a strong international and translation works focus, pioneering a distinctive approach to the publishing of innovative academic research and reference works, from China, Vietnam, Cuba, and Korea.
Our titles mainly include Humanities and Social Sciences, including socialism studies, Marxist philosophy, Marxist economics, Marxist ecology, history, international relations and other disciplines. Our books are subject to peer review by recognized authorities in the field. We intend to diversify our translation works from the newly emerging nations and regions.
We owe our name to the Lyonnais silk workers in France who rose up for minimum wages for the first time in the history of mankind. The Canut revolts (French: Révolte des canuts) is the collective name for the major revolts by Lyonnais silk workers (French: canuts) which occurred in 1831, 1834 and 1848. They were among the first well-defined worker uprisings of the period known as the Industrial Revolution.
